The Journey Of A Vision

I wrote a speech.

I'll post it in parts so as to get you to visit my blog more often.

Before we start, I want to ask you a question: Where is the wealthiest place on planet earth today? Is it in Australia? Brunei? America? The Middle East? Think for a moment.

Now let me say that the Wealthiest spot on this planet, is not the oil fields of Saudi Arabia. It is not the gold or diamond mine of South Africa. It is not the uranium deposits in Russia. But this might surprise some of you but the richest deposits on our planet possibly lie just 10 to 20 kilometers of where your flat, house or apartment may be.

Now you say: Where are the richest deposits? They lie 6 feet underground in your local graveyards and your cemeteries. Now why do I say that? Because buried 6 feet underneath the soil of those cemeteries, are dreams that never came to pass, songs that were never composed, books that were never authored, technologies that were never discovered, paintings that never filled the canvas, visions that were never fulfilled, purposes and great destinies in life that never became a reality.

As a filial grandson, one of the things I do is to visit my late grandfather at the cemetery. There’s so many a time that when I go to the graveyard and one of the saddest moments for me is to walk by a tombstone and those words engraved or inscribed on it : lie here, Rest In Peace, is so and so, died 3 years old or 5 years old or 7 years old and I can not help but wonder  what if this boy or this girl who is buried underneath right now had a chance to live a full life for 70, 80, 90 years, what new invention or discovery or contribution could he or she make in the history or in the society at large.

Our graveyards are filled with potential that is never realized. The greatest tragedy in life is not death. It is a life that never reaches its fullest potential. So what exactly is potential?
