Computers and Society

It's been a long time since I last blogged. I ask your forgiveness. But
There's really nothing much to blog about.

Anyway, I have to do this activity where I have to blog about Two
topics which I chose to be:
1) Is Computer Gaming More Good than Bad?
2) Who is Responsible for Identity Theft?

So let's start shall we? I have to admit, these topics are hard even for
me. But I'll manage.

Hopefully.

So is Computer Gaming good or bad? For me I think it's neither good
nor bad. It's good because it allows groups of people to come together
to de-stress and have fun especially after long weeks riddled with lots
of exams and projects due. However, it becomes bad when it becomes
an addiction. Just like any kind of drugs, the more you go at it, the
worse your health and lifestyle becomes.

Nothing really good comes out of addiction. It turns you into a ravenous
monster whose wants becomes a need. It not only ruins your life but
maybe even the people around you. There is another side to this argument.
Some of you would say that it's a passion; something which you like doing
a lot with your mind and soul into it. But you have to understand one thing.
There is a thin line between addiction and passion. Passion is when you have
control of what you are doing so once what you are doing controls you then that
turns it into an addiction.

Computer gaming is a good way to have fun but we need to, like most things,
do it in moderation. We have to control what we are doing and make the choices
that will have a significant and phenomenal effect to our future and success.

Who is responsible for identity theft? We can always blame the suspects but I
believe that the responsibility is with us.

As the years go by, new generation rises so we can expect new technologies,
policies, governance, principles, etc. New challenges requires new solutions.
Therefore it is important that we are always prepared and up to date with
all the updates in technologies, current affairs and more. Like what has
always been said:
"Prevention is better than cure"

If we are vigilant and prepared, we will be able to avoid having our identities
stolen from us. Some scenarios are unavoidable like maybe a super hacker
got into your bank account or something but things like email scams and
pop-ads, we can avoid. But that will only happen if we are global minded
enough to know what is happening in the world around us; current trends
and such as that.

But some of us take it for granted and stops learning after we've reached a
certain age. This is unacceptable because we should only stop learning when
we die! We should always inculcate in ourselves the value of a lifelong learner.
I mean, there's so much things in the world that we have still to understand,
why stop the excitement of learning new things? Why live a mundane and boring life?

That's why partly it is our responsibility to be vigilant and prepared from identity
thefts. It is our own gullibility and naivety that motivates these perpetrators.
If we are prepared then they'll naturally stop because we're to hard to trick;)

I hope I didn't digress much. This is after all something that was done in less than
30 minutes. Hope you enjoy it though and keep following me on Facebook/Twitter.
